About Us
Who We Are
At Nourishing NYC, we believe that access to food and basic supplies should be a fundamental right, not a privilege. Founded by high school junior Ellie Warwick, our mission is to support underserved communities in New York City by providing essential resources at no cost. Ellie’s inspiration came from her experience working with a food distribution organization that required payment. Seeing people turned away because they couldn’t afford food was heartbreaking and motivated her to take action. She decided to create a solution that ensures everyone in need has access to the support that they deserve.
What started as a small idea to help a few families has now grown into a dedicated community initiative. We are committed to creating a safety net for those who struggle to meet basic needs. Our work isn’t just about handing out food or supplies – it’s about restoring dignity, hope, and a sense of security to those who need it most.
We are proud to serve individuals from all walks of life because hunger and hardship don’t discriminate. By providing consistent and reliable support, we hope to create lasting change. Our goal is to build stronger, more connected communities where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
Our Work is Built on 3 Core Pillars:
-
Advocacy
We push for systemic change to address food insecurity and poverty in NYC -- all while raising awareness about food redistribution and related issues.
-
Fundraising
We rely on donations to purchase food and essential supplies for underserved New Yorkers and to fund our advocacy efforts. Every dollar directly supports our mission to combat hunger and poverty.
-
Service
Our volunteers gather donations, organize and pack them at community events, and deliver them to local organizations. We provide immediate relief to those in need, while building a stronger community.
